The drive to King's Canyon was notable only by my brain receiving urgent but conflicting demands for toilet stops. Don't know if it was something I ate or wot!
Very cold night but was warm as toast in my -12 sleeping bag! We drove out to King's Canyon in the morning & did the main walk around the rim & onto the floor of the canyon. The walk was around 12km's & was spectacular. The sandstone cliffs are massive and you get a bird's eye view of the facing wall of stone. The walk takes you down onto the floor of the canyon with rock enclosed pools, own bio system supporting cycads, native figs & desert grevillea and a great view back up to the canyon rim.
Plan was to use a permit-only dirt track (aboriginal land) to see a number of gorges on our way into Alice Springs. However, rain is forecast & the dirt road may become impassible according to local advice. Looking at a different route but will decide tomorrow.
