Hello!

Well since my last blog I have been to Melaka and back!

Melaka is south of KL, about a two hour bus ride away. The buses are so cheap here, about two pounds each way, which when you compare it to the price of just the local bus in Northampton is amazing. Anway I made it to Melaka and got a taxi to the hostel I was staying at as the local bus didnt seem to turn up! All taxi's work on fixed rates in Malaysia which is a good thing as it too my taxi a while to find where I was staying. Amazingly the taxi drive pulled into a petrol station whilst taking me to my hostel!

Melaka is very pretty, but quite small. The main attraction is the town square and the Duch Church " Christ Church" which are all painted red. There also tri-shaws everywhere competing for business, they are all very colourful with flowers all around them and then they light up like fair ground rides at night, quite tacky! Melaka as in most Malaysian towns has a China Town, which I think has a better atmosphere then the one in KL which mostly sells fake goods! I had a wander round china town and then the river which looks out onto the Strait of Melaka.

I had to sleep under a mosqiuto net for the first time last night and I dont like it! The hostel I stayed in was great and cheap but it had no mosi net on the window or air con and I didnt want to wake up with mosi bites all over me! As Melaka is very near the equautor it was boiling and I now officially have a tan! I was also very pleased to find that the hostel had hot showers which was quite a novelty!

Anyway I had best go, I am off to the a fish spa. There is a popular place in on of the malls where special fish suck the dead skin of your feet so I am going to give it a go!
