Today we set off from Strahan heading to Hobart, the biggest ride of the trip and it started off with the heavens open. We had solid rain all the way. We travelled through Queenstown, admiring the waterfalls as we rode up and through the mountains. This is the best road for a motorbike Tassie has to offer.
We stopped at Derwent Bridge to thaw out in front of the open fire and had some lunch and a scotch to try and warm up. That pub is awesome, well worth checking out if you are ever in the area.
We headed off to fuel up and the servo and my bike decided it had enough, wouldn't start even though its a new battery. Luckily for us a bloke passing through had a screwdriver and a set of jump leads and 10 minutes later we were back on the road.
The weather then turned from bad to worse. Heavy rain turned to hail and back to heavy rain we were soaked and chilled to the bone. The wet weather gear couldn't handle the amount of rain we were riding in.
It was slow going due to the roads being so wet and visibility being next to none.
The ride took all day, we arrived in Hobart at 5:15pm and had a hot shower to defrost. All the riding gear is saturated and the next couple of days will be spent trying to dry everything and troubleshoot my starting issues.
We are here for 2 nights before heading up the East Coast.
Ride on 👊
