Today we set off from Stanley, the weather was brisk but sunny to start the morning. Unfortunately Stanley's servo closed down and we had to ride out low on fuel, the next 20kms was a nervous one for both of us hoping we wouldn't run out.
A fuel stop at a roadhouse along the way saved us and off we went enjoying the ride.
The climb towards Cradle Mountain became colder and colder before dad pointed out to a sign warning of icy roads ahead, a few corners later on the wet roads and we were surrounded by snow, it is the coldest we have ever been and the ride was extremely slow due to the dangerous conditions.
We found our way to the log cabin at Highlanders and defrosted. Concerned about my bike due to starting issues we talked the owners into allowing us to store the bikes in the wood shed.
We had some lunch and headed to Dove Lake for a stroll and some sightseeing, bloody amazing wilderness out here with wild Wombats and Pademelons roaming around.
Visiting Cradle Mountain when full with snow is a sight to be seen, the photos don't do it justice, such an amazing place.
Tomorrow we are off to Strahan.
Ride on 👊
