Today we woke up in Penguin for the 1st offical day in Tasmania. Kicked off the day with a ripper breakfast and set off for a look around the town.
The accommodation was awesome and the small asian lady who hosted us said if we accidentally left any belongings behind she would happily post them. Dad was so impressed he said I Love you upon departure putting me in hysterics and dad a little embarrassed.
We caught up with family friends who moved to Penguin 13 years ago for a coffee and set off towards Stanley, the morning was marvelous, sun was out, it was a brisk 11° the water and sky was clear and blue. We took a small detour to Sister's Beach which was well worth the look.
Then the weather turned bleak, the Artic Blast hit us head on, the bikes were blowing around and the heavens opened up. riding was slow (80km/h). We arrived in Stanley, the rain was sideways a quick defrost in the cabin and off to Hursey's for fish and chips. Easily the best fish in the country. We had Gummy shark and chips.
After a late lunch we walked the Nut, I was f***ed telling dad I needed a rest, turns out we had only made it to the carpark. 500m straight up, the steapest climb ever, but we made it took a photo and then walked back down in the rain. Straight to the pub for a couple of well earnt scooners.
Dinner was back at Hursey's for a cray, chips and salad and a few reds. Absolutely sensational.
Tomorrow we are Cradle Mountain bound pending further snow in the area.
Ride On 👊

Chris Huismann Loving the photos and blog. Hopefully you will get to Cradle Mountain tomorrow. Tell the snow to stay away for a few days! Did dad tell the waitress he loved her because the cray was so good? 😂 Enjoy and take care xo
