FARFRUMWURKEN
We made Mexico today, landing at Puerto Chiapas. It's about a 30-minute bus ride ($10US/pp) into the biggest town, Tapachula. It’s about 800,000 people so it’s a good size.
It’s been days since we’ve had any good internet so we’re on a quest to find an internet café so to speak. We check one, then another, then another – they won’t take U.S. funds and they don’t speak any English. Great spot for a cruise ship to stop.
We ended up landing at a restaurant in the square that had free wi-fi with lunch, so we ended up getting a few basic emails sent, but beyond that it’s just way too slow. It’s still very hot here again today. Everybody’s shirts are just sopping wet – it kind of makes you wish for cooler climates. No purchases here today other than a magneto for Jean. We’re scheduled to hit Huatulco, MX tomorrow and our friends from Salmon Arm have arranged a tour for us with one of their contacts so we’ll head off the ship at 7:00 a.m. and look for Jose in a red shirt sitting at a bakery in a yellow building. Hopefully this goes better than our disaster in Puerto Caldera.
