Overcast and windy, yet warm, with rain looming....a great day for finding Koalas and going on a hike along the Great Ocean Walk !
And Koalas we found ...lots of them ...in the wild. At the first place we stopped, we looked up and immediately saw a Koala high in the tree, snuggled into a fork having a snooze. They sleep about 20 hours a day so that they are able to digest the eucalyptus leaves they eat. Later in the afternoon on our way home, we saw them again and this time foraging. So priviledged to see them in the wild.
We went on a 11km walk to the Rainbow Waterfall, located on the beach near the Otway Lighthouse. The ocean thunders underneath them and the amazing rock formations are created by the ocean's thundering waves, the waterfall and the wind. The waterfall is spread over a steep cliff with the water flowing over the different rocks creating a rainbow of different colours. Just another miracle of nature. Luckily the rain held off.
Such an amazing spot ....and we saw nobody else on the trail. So many amazing things to see and experience.
