Ok...we have just continued our journey on the scenic route !
Great Ocean Road is just amazing !
We left Melbourne for Apollo Bay via Bells Beach, where the Billabong Pro is taking place over the Easter weekend. Lucky for us the Pros were out practicing on the most amazing waves. So fantastic to be able to watch !
Apollo Bay is the start of the Great Ocean Road. We are staying in Marengo, just outside of Apollo Bay. This little place is not mentioned in any tourist literature, and we cannot understand why. We found the most interesting beach with incredible rock formations on it. Never seen this type of rock erosion before....we spent hours looking at all the different nooks and crannies and Clint capturing it all on film.
Today we travelled along the Great Ocean Road...about 200kms of wonders of nature. The rock formations can only be marvelled at. The magnitude of the rock formations and the power of the ocean and nature are over-whelming. We feel incredibly blessed to have been able to experience this marvel ...especially under glaring blue skies !
"You are here for one small moment in time !"
Looking at the marvels on the Great Ocean Road formed over the last 18000 years one is made very aware once again of how insignificant we are in the great scheme of things. We can just marvel at the magnitude of nature.
The ocean is so powerful here and such an inviting azure colour. Luckily it is not too cold either.
And ...we found the next favourite beach ...No 2 on the magic beach list....Bay of Martyrs on the Bay of Islands ...just beautiful ! And the water was even at a managable temperature. So beautiful !
What an amazing day !
Oh yes ...and we saw a small black snake ...I believe a viper. Need to watch our step here !
