Geoff, Jade & Goody's Eurotrip
Hey Subscribers,
We left Rome the next day by train to Bari, where we caught a ferry to Athens and even though we didn't see all we wanted to of Rome, we knew we had another 9 nights there and plenty of time to do so. Travelling from Rome to Athens took close to 36 hours including probably the worst train ride of the whole trip and thankfully the last! A 4 hour train ride on a 3 carriage packed train with no air-condition is not the most desired way to travel. But we did however meet 2 Aussies (Damien and Dave from Adelaide) and a Kiwi (we wont hold that against you Jimmy) who we have been travelling with from Athens.
Athens was very warm and made sightseeing a tiresome and uncomfortable task. We went to the Acropolis which was hard to imagine was built close to 2,500 years ago, truly admired on that alone. We also saw the first Olympic venue used in 1886 and the last Olympic venue used in 2004. We also just wondered Athens stumbling into so many archaeological sites and flea markets. 2 nights in Athens was enough as all we wanted to do is get out to the Greek Islands and kick back on the beach.
