Train from Vienna in the morning which got us to Salzburg by 11. Left our bags at the hotel and then went into Salzburg for the afternoon. Visited Mirabel gardens (used in the Sound of Music!), Mozart's birthplace museum and the Hohensalzburg fortress where we got some really good views of the city. Went up on a funicular railway too! Evening dined at an Austrian restaurant - new drink tried Ramazotti liqueur which was recommended! Plus local wine! And ice cream...

Made a new friend at breakfast in Prague who thought Heather looked like the band camp girl from American Pie! Then had a wet walk to the train station so got a bit soggy! Train journey fine (uneventful!) and arrived in Vienna at lunchtime. Hotel close to station again which is handy so checked in and then went out into the city centre to explore for the afternoon. Had an interesting lunch (weird scrambled eggs by mistake and very strong coffee!) before starting...
