San Juan del Sur is a vibrant beach town frequented by sunbathers and surfers. Lots of choice for sleeping and eating. We  get  tickets for the ferry $C50  (£1.37) each back to San Jorge. There are a lot of passengers crowding to get aboard but nobody is ever turned away from Nicaraguan transport.  The vehicle section is full and all  three decks are  packed with passengers. We head down to the ferry which will take us across the lake to Ometepe, a 90 minute journey. Although an inland island, there are strong winds, a heavy swell and the crossing has a reputation for being rough and had been cancelled for 3 days last week because of wind. The taxi  to take us from Laguna de Apoyo picks us  up early and after stopping on route for a visit to the ATM, arrives in Granada  right on 11.30 just as a bus to Rivas is leaving....somehow the taxi driver got the conductor's attention.  He stopped the bus, we got our luggage out of taxi....it was taken onto roof of bus, we piled in to a very packed bus and spent the first hour standing ...then conductor shouted change here for San Jorge bus for Ometepe......
