Well... it seemed me and Mike were a little to over excited about the fact that we had survived rafting with no "major" injuries, and perhaps a little stupid to think that with Mikes track record, such an extreme sport would leave him with no visits to the doctors or hospital!! So you are all wondering 'What the hell has he done now?'...I will explain in a bit!
So we got picked up form our hostel in Cairns by a small bus from the hostel we were staying in in Port Douglas for 2 days. It was free to which was even better! After driving around collecting other people we were all given a lolly (like Kids) for the journey, lol. The first half of the drive was dull but we were then back along the coast, winding around the side of cliffs. Our bus driver was slightly mental swinging the bus and trailer in tow around these sharp bends! We stopped halfway at a scenic lookout point to take some pictures and have a drink. We then stopped further along at a creek where there was a wild crocodile chilling on the bank. Everyone on the bus pulled out their massive professional cameras, so me and Miek made sure that everyone saw our super sonic digital 5 zoom digital camera, lol.
About 2 hours later we arrived at Dougies after being taken on a quick tour of the area so we knew where the town and beach was etc. Port Douglas is quite a small town by the beach. It is a wealthy area with some lush houses and hotels. Dougies is a 10 mintue walk from the beach and 15 mintue walk from the main street in town where there are lots of little shops and cafes. We are staying in a tent, we love it! In terms of tents its a premium one, lol. We have proper beds but low to the ground, a bedside table with a light either side and a fan as it gets so hot during the day! The tent has plenty of room for all our luggage and to stand up and move around in. Mike was given the task of finding us accomodation in Port Douglas and he did a very good job! Well done Watkins!! We would definately recommend staying at Dopugies, it has tents you can rent from them already erected, an area for your own tents, cmapervan sites and dorms. Its is a really good set up with an open plan kitchen/bar/living area/games room. There is also a pool, hammocks and lots of outdoor area to sit etc. One of our favourite backpackers so far!
After arriving and having lunch we walked into town and took a wander around the shops. we had some amazing thickshakes which were really good and then walked back. In the hour or so that we had gone out, Mikes elbow had swelled up loads from where he had banged it rafting. His elbow looked like a golf ball and his whole arm was so swollen. the guys at our hostel reception told us we should go to a pharmacy asap, so we had to jump on some bikes to go back into town as it was getting late. We got to the pharmacy and the guy there told us to go straight to the doctors as it was infected! So off we went to the doctors! Neither of us could help but laugh with Mikes ridiculous bad luck he has had, lol. Things normally come in 3's but this is the 4th...does this mean we have another 2 to go !!?? I really hope not!! When we were rafting I fell backwards onto a massive rock and Mike fell ontop of me yet he is the one with a b*****ed arm and I didnt have a scratch!? So after waiting a while we got to see the doctor, he started by telling Mike he needed a fatter girlfriend to cushion his fall, lol, and then attempted to drain Mikes arm twice. But he only got a bit of blood out as it had solidified already. So round 3 of antibiotics and painkillers for Mr Watkins!! I dont think any insurance company will cover Mike again, he is killing their budget!!
We cycled back to our hostel, Mike with one arm hanging down with me pointing and laughing , lol. We had pasta for dinner and then played a game of darts (his right arm was still good!). So all in all a great day, full of another thrilling visit to the doctors!! Good times. I am trying to ban him from skydiving but he wont have it!!

Mikes arm was so much better already this morning, the swelling has gone down but the bruising has started to come out! So his arm is starting to look like a rainbow!! We spent a few hours down on the beach, its hotter here than Cairns and the sea is also warmer. So we layed on the beach for a while, went in the sea and played with the ball and frisbee to keep Mike entertained! Later on we went back to our hostel for lunch and then as we love bikes so much, lol, we hired them out to cycle back to the town again to have another wander around, and another thickshake, but the woman clearly wasnt a regular as it wasnt as good as yesterdays!!
Tonight we chilled at our hostel, it was free sizziling sausages night which were so good, me and Mike managed to keep sneaking up for more and ended up having 4 each, haha, it was like we hadnt been fed in a week! We are eating so much bread here as its the cheapest option for lunch and brekkie, im like a balloon after all these carbs!! There was live entertainment tonight, a guy singing with his guitar, he was actually pretty good. Later on we headed back to our tent and played some crazy games of uni!!
Back off to Cairns for 4 days tomorrow until we fly to Auckland!!!
