Day 17/32 Samos - Sarria
A leisurely start. Nice to be able to make coffee and toast at accommodation.
We headed off around 0900. A low fog after rain all night. Temp around 12d. Quite a bit of roadside to start. Again we thought a coffee stop about 3k in, but not a sausage! Again it was 12k before coffee. We passed through 5 villages marked on the map - most of them like ghost towns, very sad. A few had some nice houses with well kept grounds, but the others were desolate.
After our coffee and cake stop we continue to Sarria. The number of pilgrims that seemed to start appearing was amazing. After a couple of days of literally a handful of fellow walkers, suddenly we all seem to be converging onto Sarria at once.
Found our very basic (compared to last night) accommodation and went for a beer and bit to eat.
It started to rain so had a rest/read and headed out to dinner. Which was delicious. Mike has been hanging out for the local specialty “octopus” so we had that as well as a shared pilgrim meal which was one of the best and of course the obligatory bottle of vino tinto!
Early start tomorrow. All is well.
Coffee cake €4
Lunch €11
Dinner €22
Supermarche €10
