Day 306 (Monday 6th October 08)

As soon as we were up made our way south. Not a very nice day with lots of rain so drove through Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, North Haven and Laurieton without stopping for long. Made our way down to Taree where we stopped for something to eat quickly and then again on the move going through Tuncurry and Forster. In Forster found an Aldi and Reject Shop so did our food shopping before getting back on the road. Drove on out to Seal Rocks and found ourselves on an unsealed road, luckily it wasn't for too long! When we were leaving Seal Rocks driving along the bumpy, hilly, windy, roads that were badly surfaced the wheel of Hoki Poki got caught and Hoki Poki swerved out of control, luckily Em bought it back into control and we didn't go down the side of the cliff. Joined up with the main road and got stuck in all the bank holiday traffic making their way home. Took us a long time to get to Maitland where we spent the night. Had a look around Maitland but everything was closed up with it being the bank holiday. Went and parked in one of the parks and did our ear candles. Had problem finding a toilet and ended up having to drive out of Maitland to one of the shopping malls we had spotted on the way in. Ended up parking by the tourist information for cooking and to spend the night as it said it was a rest area. It wasn't a particularly quiet place right next to the highway but we knew we couldn't get moved on.
