This morning we said goodbye to Panzi and had another day driving through Kruger. We had to wait patiently for 5 big male giraffes to get off the road and let us head on our way out of Guerney. This time we drove to the south towards Skukuza and then Malelane where our next accomodation was located. With the long weekend over Kruger was much quieter, maybe the animals knew this but we had a much better day. We saw elephants drinking and frolicing in a water hole. There was buffalo staring us down with their look of distain. We saw two large male lions taking it easy on the roadside and lots of Rhino. Four out of the big five in a day we just needed to see a Leopard. We thought Kruger was our best bet for leopards and were worried that we had missed out.
Arriving after later than expected and after dark at Kwa Madwala one of the staff offered to show us the way to our room. Kwa Madwala is a private game reserve with that has different types of rooms spread out across the grounds. So we followed the bloke in his 4wd drive to where we were staying. On the grass between our building and the guys hut - basically at his front door - was a group of hippo and rhino happily grazing together. Getting into our room was quite safe but Im not sure how the other guy managed, maybe he had a back door.
