We started the day at a war cemetery- as usual the average age of those buried there was 19 or 20. It was a lovely, peaceful, beautiful setting and we came away feeling what a waste of human life.
We then went on a magical mystery tour that took to a rubber plantation, a riverside with loads of fishing boats and nets suspended above the water, ending in some of the most dramatic scenery imaginable. These were limestone hills and we were heading for paradise cave.
The cave entrance was half way up a mountain- which we had to climb. We then descended almost as far down into the cave - that mountain must be an empty shell because believe me that cave was big and deep and long and almost every other word that describes magnificent. Just as you thought you had come to the end you turned a corner and on it went. We walked 1km into that cave - apparently it goes on for 31km. It is also full of the most wonderful rock formations imaginable.
We ended the day by going to a friend of Bruno’s (Sheila’s driver) to have a meal. We actually discovered that Bruno himself cooked most of it. Duck, lemon chicken and about 5 other dishes. Came home in a lightning show - luckily missed the rain.
