It is very important that you plan carefully, methodically and precisely, or so Sister Whoever said back when I was at school. i am so glad I didn’t listen.

Today we set of on our 6 day motorbike tour and ended up at the place I was half thinking about visiting after the tour. Now, you may well ask - didn’t I know where the tour was going before we started - and no I didn’t I have already said - I didn’t listen when at school.

The drive was fabulous, started by going up, over and then down a pass that used to be very dangerous but as there is now a tunnel only bikes, tankers and livestock go over the mountain, everyone else goes through. We ended in Hue, a city for tourists to party. Luckily we are in a quiet hotel in a very quiet alleyway.

We went to the citadel- very good and then the Pagoda built for the Eunuchs by the Eunuchs. The story goes that as they were Eunuchs they had no children to leave their money to. More importantly they had no descendants to look after their interests -so the one thing led to the other and they left their money to have the Pagoda build. The next generation of Eunuchs then looked after their graves, left their money to the Pagoda and so it continued for as long as there were Eunuchs in the citadel. It was wonderful and so peaceful. (I actually preferred it to the much grander citadel)
