First day in Auckland was amazing. We managed to navigate the airport successfully and on the bus to the city a local New Zealander started chatting to us and offered to be our tour guide as he had the whole day to kill before he was flying to America that evening. So we dumped our bags at the hostel, freshened up and off we went to explore the city with Mike, a honey bee farmer who produces makuna honey so we learned a lot about all the benefits which was fascinating! We explored the art museum and had a yummy coconut and white chocolate cake (which he paid for!). Then we made our way to the harbour and wandered around. Really nice and warm weather so the shorts and flip flops were out. We're so pale compared to everyone else here! Enjoyed a glass of wine by the harbour and later in the evening we went to a Korean restaurant. By this time we were starting to majorly flag after having been awake since Monday morning so we said our goodbyes to Mike and fell asleep almost immediately! Feeling much refreshed this morning and ready to explore some more.
