Tonight we were staying at blue duck station which is a conservation lodge right in the middle of the rainforest. They are trying to remove all the pests that have been introduced into the native bush and conserve the native animals. Before we arrived there we made a couple of stops, one at Huka Falls which was a really really fast flowing river it was insane and so so blue. The second was just outside of Taupo which was at a hot springs. We got changed into our swimming stuff and relaxed in a stream, which felt more like a bath the water was so lovely and warm. Blue duck station was an hour drive down a very bendy road but I somehow managed to sleep the whole way there! Chilled out in the afternoon, played game of life! Some of the volunteers there are ex stray passengers who just decided to stay a couple of extra months so they came up and did a bonfire. We were supposed to have an early night for the hike the next day but ended up staying up until 1am! Everyone really friendly there and at about midnight the rest of the staff appeared and started an axe throwing competition! Apparently that was normal.
