The past 3 days have been an incredible experience. There are hundreds of different boat experiences you can go on, and we chose the SV Whitehaven, which is an Eco Safari boat. We've had a relatively quiet few days, passing through a number of uninspiring towns, such as Hervey Bay and Rockhampton. Today we have had a day exploring Fraser Island which is made 98% of sand! The aboriginal name for the island translates as 'paradise' which is a pretty accurate description. The island is only accessible by 4 wheel drive. A short drive along 75 mile drive took us to morning tea! All very civilised. Yesterday we had a trip to Australia zoo, or the Steve Irwin zoo as it is also known who was the 'crocodile hunter' who was killed back in 2006. Today the zoo is run by his wife and family. We managed to get away with using our student cards that never expired for cheap entry.
