dzasta travels
We flew from Phuket to Bangkok. It was Boom's first ever flight. She seemed to enjoy it but had trouble with her ears when we landed. She couldn't get them to pop so she had and ear ache. I sussed out we could take a shuttle to the MRT then anywhere in Bangkok. Daz and Boom already knew that so I just followed them. They seemed to race through the airport and train station so I am now in Bangkok without a map and I don't know where anything is. I would have looked for one at the airport or station.
We have no accommodation booked here so we headed to Nana cos there are heaps of cheap hotels here. Nana is a suburb of Bangkok and it is really a brothel. They sell Viagra and sex toys openly on the street. The girls wear next to nothing and they happily tell you exactly what services they are offering. They do not try to pretend it is anything it is not. Every where they sell sex. It is one of the seediest places I have been. It is the kind of place I thrive on., a lot of people wont come to a place like this so often the rooms are cheap.I have found cheap accommodation all over the world in places like this. The street we are in has brothels and bars and hotels. I started looking in the hotels and found one in our price range. We eventually found a couple but settled on the Best Value Inn. Boom liked it the best out of all the ones we looked at. They even got a window in their room, I didn't but the view isn't that great anyway. We are right next to Dr BJ's and across from The Pickled Liver. First class all the way. hahaha
We headed out to have a look around. I thought our street was seedy but there are worse (maybe better depending on your view) streets here. Nana Plaza is three stories of brothel. We sat at a bar nearby and watched the goings on. I thought it amusing to watch the girls come in and pray to the budda shrine then go to work and do what I assume they do. We had a good night and I got talking to a bar girl who had been to Renmark so she was giving us info for Boom's visa. The toilets were funny. They had one marked for men, one for women and one for both. No one seemed to pay any attention and used any one. It was strange standing there and a "woman" standing next to me errr doing the same thing. later we walked along the market and did some shopping. Boom didn't like me bartering and I tried to explain the difference between Thai price and farang price. I don't think I did too well and I am not sure she understands.
Friday and Daz and boom went to the embassy to get a visa for Boom to come to Aus. They spent the whole morning there and did all the paperwork. Now they just gotta wait up to 10 days to see if it is granted. I just hung around the hotel and tried to sleep. I am not feeling the best so I tried to sleep but it didn't work. I walked up to the 7 eleven and got iced coffee and had a shower and tried to sleep again but still didn't work.
In the afternoon we took the train to Mo Chit to do some shopping. The trains here are easy to navigate and we have a native speaking guide so that makes it even easier. the shopping there didn't seen to be very good so after a couple of houirs we got a tuk tuk to Patpong Rd. Daz didn't realize it is only open at night so we were way too early. The only thing to do was head home. we all had a shower and a bit of a relax before heading back to Patpong rd for some serious shopping. I think Boom now understands Thai price and farang price. The t shirts were starting at 700baht but we actually paid 150 or 200 for them. We had dinner on the side of the road up there and ended the night back at our hotel and had a couple of beers.
Tomorrow is our last day here so we are going to see Booms family. They live here, I think near Bang Na, and we are going to have dinner with them and maybe do some more shopping to finish the last of my Thai baht
