dzasta travels
This is just a short trip to see the King and Queen of Siam get married. It has given me the opportunity to use some technology that I haven't used before. I have my phone this time and while I have used it I probably wouldn't bother again. My fingers arn't dextrose enough and the letters are too small. I also have my I pad and while it is OK for typing this (except for the predictive text) there is no USB port so I have no way of putting photos until I get home next week.
So the first couple of days were taken up with drinking, the wedding, drinking, celebrating the wedding and drinking. I'm getting too old to be doing that too much. I was a great couple of days and I really enjoyed them.
Yesterday, after the official photos we took the ferry to Wat Arun. I have been there before but it is such an amazing place it was good to see it again. The bonus was we had a tour guide who speaks fluent Thai so we got to go on the local canal boats as well. They are really NOT canals they are more like sewers but fun and cheap.
Yesterday was a bonus for me cos today I went up to Nonthaburi to look around and see the markets. I re traced the way we went yesterday as much as I could. After the canal ferry I had to walk about 800mtr to the river for the big ferry. I dunno what went wrong but I ended up walking for nearly 2hr but in the end I did find the river and a ferry stop. I had walked soo far the far was only 14 baht, yesterday was 40 baht and I went way further today. Coming back I paid to go to Central Pier but they didn't u stop there so I got off at the next stop and had no idea where I was so I got a tuk tuk to MBK to get my bearings and find my way home. While at MBK I bought the kids some presents as. Always they are fully sick.
Daz has gone home this morning so it is going to be a quiet night tonight and I go home on the red eye tomorrow night. To fill in the day tomorrow I am going to Chatuchuk markets on the way to the airport then home and straight back to work.
So my last day here I woke up last night with a bad dose of the runs. I was stupid enough to clean my teeth in the local tap water. So I spent most of the night on the can. This morning I asked for late checkout and they let my stay till 2. I took some gastro stop and by 12 I felt OK to go so I headed off on my way home.
I had always planned to stop at Chatuchuk markets on the way home cos they are at the last train stop where u change for a bus to Don Muoang airport. The market is massive and a little unusual. They don't just have the usual ****, they have some unusual stuff. More traditional stuff, hand made leather boots and lots of other stuff u don't usually see at the markets here. I bought a couple of shirts for Noah and some toys but the call of nature was screaming . I didn't have time to work out the bus system to the airport so I got a motor bike taxi. I didn't even have to tell him I needed to get there asap, he instinctively knew. We were fanging down the freeway at 80k/her but he did slow to 60 when he was driving between the moving cars.
All in all I am safe and sound and near a dunny if needed and he'll early but I will be home tomorrow.
