After very disappointing weather forecasts for the last two days we have had blistering weather which has kept Ruth happy. We used the train again yesterday for a visit to Galle and spent a lovely day wandering the walls, shops and restaurants. The cost of the 15km journey? 5p each! The railway must run on the same principles as 100 years ago. Huge ledgers filled in for each arrival, as the train got in the guy put his jacket and hat on, went onto the platform and waved his flag. Came back to the ledger and took his jacket and hat off and drew a double line under the entry. God knows why but very amusing to watch. It took us about half an hour to get back by tuk tuk at a reasonable £3.50 including tip. We were so hot in Galle that we demolished a 1.5 ltr pitcher of beer in about fifteen minutes. See photos. We hope our taxi will arrive in the morning at 7.00 to whisk us back to the airport. Some final pics before we see you all again. Have thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. People are very helpful and friendly. In spite of forecasts weather has been great. Food has been good to excellent. There is also enough to see to come back for another visit. All in all a good un!
