ITALY - DAY 17
This morning we rushed around trying desperately trying to get our clothes washed and dried before being driven to our hotel on the other side of Rome.
After checking in we headed back out towards the Bocca della Verita (The Face of Truth). Legend has it that you put your hand in the mouth and if you are telling the truth you keep your hand, if however you are lying it bites it off. It was used as a test for young lovers way back. We all escaped with all our hands so we must all be honest people. The girls thought it was very mysterious.
We continued wandering the streets of Rome seeing various sites of interest like Ponte Rotto; the only arch left of the Bridge Emilian from 214BC; The Tempio di Erocole Invitto; built in 120BC, the most ancient building in Rome made in marble; Circo Massimo, 600 metres long, it was the largest circus in the world for cart races (supposedly it was where Ben Hur raced); Arco di Giano Quadriftonte to name but a few.
Our feet were sore and we were feeling extremely hot so we jumped on a train and went back to the hotel for a rest.
