ITALY - DAY 16
Left Florence this morning and headed into Siena for the morning. This is where they hold a horse race every year with a representative from each district. The men have to ride their horse around a circuit three times and stay on and finish first. The horse is then treasured and a huge feast is held in its honor.
We climbed the city tower. Yes I know another one. It's like, see a tower must climb up. 392 steps winding up. Great views from the top though. We could see over the whole city. We could also see the old city wall running around the entire old city.
After our mammoth effect, pizza was the order of the day and we sat down in a cafe on the edge of the piazza and had lunch. It was nice to sit in the cool as the day was another scorcher.
After lunch it was back on the bus and back to Rome. That night most people went to dinner as a final farewell. There were a few of us who thought it was way too expensive so we went our own way and had Japanese. We meet some lovely people on this tour and hope that we can stay in contact with them.
