Day 18. Up early as we are going fishing. Out to 4 Mile Creek we cast into the lagoon but no luck. A long walk over to the adjacent beach we are now fishing the Indian Ocean for the big fish. Not much luck, but Paul the Reliable caught a nice bream on very light gear which provided a sporty fight. Wind picking up SE and blowing red sand. Unusual background to the reddish/brown sandy beach and lots of white shells being the huge Wheatstone Gas Processing Plant not far away. They pump gas from Montebello Islands 15km away.
Back in Onslow for lunch, we repacked the vehicle, showered and spent the afternoon reading as it is 28 degrees outside while SE Australia freezes! We tried unsuccessfully to book a fishing charter out to the Mackeral Islands but alas fully booked. Tonight a short stroll down to the Onslow Beach House to watch the Bledisloe Cup rugby test with some locals and visitors. Pizza and a beer at the beach House for dinner. We are moving onto Exmouth tomorrow, fully refreshed and ready for more fishing.
