Day 15. After breakfast we headed out for a long walk down into the bottom of Dales Gorge. Climbing down the hundreds of steps into the very deep gorge we first viewed Fortescue Falls flowing into a deep pool. Further up the gorge we encountered a special place known as Fern Pool with its small waterfall and wide deep pool fringed by white snappy gums and maidenhair ferns. Down the gorge we followed the path through dense paperbark forests and scrambling over rock platforms for about 2km to arrive at Circular Pool where a few back packers were swimming. The beauty of this place struck us with its vivid red gorge walls, maidenhair ferns and reflective water. We then climbed out of the gorge via steep rock steps and a ladder just as the day trippers arrived. Back at camp we spent a lazy afternoon reading in the shade before an early night as we are moving on tomorrow. Warm 24 degrees but cool last night.
