Rach did the honours again for breakfast, to gear us up for the day's activities. We each grabbed a kayak, snorkelling gear & lifejacket & headed the whole 50m down to the beach. The sea was quite calm & we paddled about 100m+ to just outside the bay, before attaching the kayaks together & 3 of us jumping in. The water was warm & crystal clear with a visibility of about 15m. The coral reef beneath us was dense, colourful & plentiful. (Supposedly this island has the 2nd largest reef in the world). There were fish of all types everywhere, making the waters glisten in colour. Schools of fish swam around us, seemingly inviting us to join them. I can't name the fish we saw, but each of them were stunning & playful. At one point I did get a bit shaken when I saw a snake on the seabed beneath me, knowing that seasnakes are poisonous. (However I later found out it was a spotted eel & that seasnakes swim near the surface!) Not long after that we spotted a turtle, about 4 feet in length, gracefully gliding it's way through the depths. I managed to swim with it for about 2 minutes or so, until it turned & started heading back out. One of the girls saw 2 turtles, but that was the only one I saw. Unfortunately Rach was on kayak watch at the time, but having swam with turtles before, she didn't mind too much. As we'd now been out for about 2 hours, we decided to head back to shore. The girls wanted to swim/snorkel back, so I attached their kayaks to mine & paddled back. It turned out it wasn't my smartest idea, as the tide was against me. Losing them twice didn't help either! However with every muscle in my legs, stomach & arms screaming at me to stop, I finally reached the shore. Rach had found the trip just as knackering, so we headed back to chill. We'd all decided to stay one extra night after tonight, but found out that unfortunately, our apartment was already booked, along with the rest of the hostel. As a result, the ladies went to check out our hostel's sister hotel, after which I checked out ALL the other places to stay in town. But in the end, the sister hotel seemed to be the best choice, so we booked it for our final night on Roatan. For our last night in our apartment though, Rach cooked us a pasta meal & as we'd sneakily bought another bottle of local rum today, the evening was spent having a couple of drinks & again chatting until the wee hours.
