My insurance very kindly ran out today, so I had to spend the morning trying to find Internet access to Skype them & sort the bloody thing out (as their number doesn't work from a mobile). (And......... technically it didn't run out, they just don't allow you to be out of the country for longer than 100 days on any one trip! b******s!). After 2 frustrating hours, I got it sorted, but it meant we'd just missed the bus to the border, so had to wait for an hour for the next one. D'oh! This border crossing into Honduras was quite an easy one & we were welcomed to the country with a rare encounter. An immigration officer with a sense of humour & no 'God-complex'! If we hadn't had an hours wait for a bus on this side as well, then it would've been a perfect start to our Honduran adventure. But the sun was still blazing around us, so our time spent waiting around wasn't too bad. However due to the delays, we realised we weren't going to make it to where we were headed (Isla de Tigre), so made a judgement call to find a place to stay in Choluteca. When we got there, (& after we'd rushed back to the bus to get the bag that Rach'd left on there!), Rach stayed in 'Wendys' while I checked out the surrounding hotels. Our top choices were full & after wandering around in circles from people giving us duff directions, I found us an OK place to stat for £10 a night. Not bad for ensuite with a TV. We knew nothing about this place, so headed to the nearest eatery, which to our delight, was Pizza Hut! One huge pizza later & we headed back.
