Well we survived train travel from Paris to Venice. A different experience, really tight quarters and not very comfortable. Tom and I must of slept a total of 2 hours and then next thing you know we are at our destination. Funny thing about not getting any sleep once you are in a new environment and busy exploring you get your second wind and can go for hours without sleep. Coming out of the Venice train station onto the Grand Canal you are transported to a different era, amazing. Sitting on the train steps waiting for our host we watch boats carrying fruit/vegetables to restaurants, people moving furniture and a casket with flowers heading to the cemetery by boat. Then you think oh yeah we r on an island, no cars, just cobblestone streets and bridges crossing the canals. Definitely a more relaxed city. We drop our bags and off and go explore. We spent the afternoon wandering around and found Beautiful St. Marco Church which is the show piece in the square we will have to return tomorrow to explore further. We did a bit of window shopping. had dinner and returned to the apartment. Our apartment is located 6 min walk from the train station and 15 min from St. Marco. We are very happy with our two bedroom 2nd floor apartment, spacious, clean and great location. Buenos noches.
