We are off exploring the coast line of the five villages of Cinque Terre by train today, most of the train ride from Monterosso is through tunnels. Today is not ideal weather very fine mist just like Vancouver weather except quite warm the great thing about it is that there were very little tourists because of the rain. Our first stop is Riomaggiore we spent time climbing to the top of the hill you get panoramic views of the town. We stopped for lunch and had fried calamari, best yet. Second stop Corniglia which is on top of the cliff and requires a steep hike uphill. Here I was complaining about 60 steps this was the mother of climbs, at least 500 steps to the top with a Very small quaint town. Then of course we had to get back down and the guys said the hard part is going up, so away we went down and back on the train. Our final stop for the day was Vernazza is right on the water with a charming central square, unfortunately we did not spend much time there as we had to catch the train back to Monterrosso. We bought food supplies went back to our apartment on the side of the mountain and had supper and drinks spending our evening on the terrace overlooking Monterosso. The picture on this post is the view from our private terrace). Lovely quiet evening, we will be off on the train tomorrow to Rome. Arrivederci Monterosso!
