Adventures of a Global Wanderer
I was tired and most museums were closed today for the May 1 holiday but I wanted to give the Swedish History Museum a try before I gave up and head back to the hotel. It was a few metro stops exploring interesting station design again.
One station had a very weird apocalyptic style photo art mural the length of the platform.
The museum was free today for the public holiday so luckily it was open after all. It started off with the Vikings on the ground floor, the settlement of Birka nearby I had thought about going to, and the early Viking girl that was discovered there.
There was a timeline of the history of Sweden which has ruled all of Scandinavia at different times.
Then the museum had a walking timeline on the ground which you follow on the ground to walk you thru the different exhibits. There was also Christian art and wood carvings. The cave paintings in the metro also made sense as this was the art style of the early inhabitants.
