Adventures of a Global Wanderer
My plan for the rest of the day was to take a ferry to a large island called Djurgarden which is home to a collection of museums and recreation space. Despite its prestigious museums I didnt come here due to time, money, or knowledge on my last visit in 2003.
First I took the metro back to the south end of Gamla Town where the ferry to Djurgarden starts hoping to see some more unique metro design. Gamla Town was bustling in tourist season and the start of the long weekend holiday for May 1.
The ferry runs every 15 mins and is included in the tourist pass. It makes stops at another island where my ship hostel from 2003 was. There were very scenic views and picture perfect blue skies.
The atmosphere on Djurgarden was sharply different from the city despite being a short ferry ride. It was more like being at a seaside town or fairground and has a roller coaster ride among its attractions.
