Adventures of a Global Wanderer
As we were now on the coast to catch our ferry to Seonyudo Island we stopped by a local raw fish restaurant to try out some of the local delicacies. We parked by what seemed an office or apartment building. However, this was a chinese style building with restaurants stacked on each floor. The ground floor lobby has large fish pools where you can choose your catch and have it sent up to your table. We went to one of the upper floor restaurants where they had oceanfront views. The table appeared to be floor style seating which always puts my leg to sleep and gives me cramps. However, this had a secret under passage where you can drop your legs down so it was more western style seating. Various items and side dishes were brought out. The platter of sliced raw fish had a sticker with a name. We were told this is the name of the chef that had prepared the meal. People were most intrigued and bemused by the platter of freshly chopped raw octopus tentacles. They continue to have muscle movements and continue to wriggle and curl as you watch, shake the plate, or try to pick one in your chopsticks. Other items included giant shrimp, raw clams, followed by tempura shrimp and sweet potato with sweetened scorched rice. There was also small fried fish. By this time they then started bringing in large pots of vegetables and fish which we were to grill on our tables into a soup. We were so stuffed we couldnt eat anymore and had to leave to catch our ferry.
