The ferry journey across from Wellington to Picton is supposed to be a really pretty journey, however my crossing was wet and misty so i couldnt see anything. It was raining really heavily when i arrived in Picton so we drove straight through to Nelson where the sun was shining. It is the sunniest place in New Zealand! Yest i went sea kayaking along the coast of the Abel Tasman NAtional park. Got picked up from hostel and driven to kaiteriteir beach. The trip i booked via my kiwi expereince driver had been upgraded for free, so those of us on this trip had a better trip than expected. We had a water taxi ride to barks bay which was the start of our trip, from here wer kayaked to pinacle island which had lots of seals and seal pups on and around swimming in the sea. this was really great to see. We then kayaked alongside the coves and beached with the AT NP going all along these cliff. THe beaches were golden and the sea was really clear. the sea was really calm and the weather was really good. We had lunch on a small beach and the sun came out for us here. It was really peaceful but can see why the whole area is packed in the summer. After lunch we carried on and went past Spilt apple rock, which is a rock that has split in half. Then it was just another half an hou to get back to kaiteriteri beach. we had been kayaking for about 6 hours. Today my shoulders are sore and my hands are really sore. Eventaully we got driven back to our hostel after the bus wouldnt start, but with 5 kayak guides and the five of us pushing it it finally started!! Sea kayaking is one of the best ways to expler an area and would definalty do it again. Today as i was walking around Nelson i went to the jewellers that made the Lord of the Rings ring! 4th may i went to Havelock which is famous for its green lipped mussels. had lunch there on the waterfront which and they were delicious. 5th may did a bone carving workshop. i designed my own cariving and cut it out, sanded it and drilled it to make the finished look. the guys helps u ab it to make it all look tidy and professional and u where it was a necklace,.
