On Thursday i went to the justice and Police Museum another place on my 'travel through time' ticket that i have. These building used to be the old court, police station, cells, magistrates office etc and is now a museum. The police station is set out like it used to be in the late 1800's, the court is still laid out like it was aswell. Throught the rest of the buildings there are displays of various cases that happened. There is also a display of old photos that were found a few years ago. Some of these photos are of crime scenes and have dead bodies and blood in the photo. There was also a film of continuous mug shots photos from the early 1900s and the voice over said who they were and what crime they did. This was really interesting place and am glad i went in.
On Friday i went to Elizabeth House (another place on my Ttt ticket) which is a big house overlooking the water. This was built in the early 1800 by convicts for an English family that moved over here as governer of the colony. There is an oval dome in the roof. I was able to walk around both floors and the cellars. Also a guide took me and two others up the maids sterps and too there rooms which is not normally acecesible for the public. It was good to be able to see some rooms that i wouldnt normally be able to see. WHen the house was built it was surrounded by bush now there are houses on every little piece of land and is strange top think how it used to be. There was a painting to show the house surrounded by bush.
In the evening i went to see 'Crackers' which was on as part of the Sydney Festival. It was at a park near the Olympic park (where the 2000 games where held.) It was advertised to last 1hour but only lasted 1/2hr, it took longer for me to get there! But the show was really good. It was laid out in a circle and in the middle was a big tower where some noisy fireworks came from. There was lots of fireworks all around the outside of the circles. Some fireworks went sideways. There were also people who had some BIG sparkler type things attached to their arms. It was a good show and all for free.
On Saturday i went to the zoo and had my photo taken with a koala. In NSW its against the law to touch a koalo so i couldnt hold it, just had to stand very close. Went to the bird show which was good, a sea eagle, two owls, a jabiru and some other aussie birds all flew around the place. It was good to go back to the zoo just to realise the wide range of animals that ive seen in the wild throughout Australia.
In the evening i went to Symphony in the domain which was another free festival event. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Sydney Orchastra. The conductor was from England. Although the pieces they played were good it wasnt as good as i was expecting and left in the interval. I certainly wasnt the only person who left then. I was back in my flat just in time to see the Hewitt match!!! Which i enjoyed more.
On sunday it was really really hot anmd everyone seemed to be at the beach by the look of the pictures on the news. I heard today that 6 people have drowned in 24hrs just around the sydney area because they werent swimming in the safe places. The heatwave seems to be coming to an end as its cooler today. And whlist everyone was at the beach i was busy working. This was my second day working for Peterpans, its very easy work and although i dont get paid in money. Instead i get to put the 'money/hours' towards travel. So ive worked enough for two days in the Blue mountains and am working a few more shifts so i can do some other trips. it was also the end of a busy week and have another busy week ahead
