Deb's Adventures
This morning we packed up and said goodbye to The Wine Country Inn and Palisade Colorado. Our next destination is Glenwood Springs which is just a short drive East. To keep in custom with our trip it took us nearly 6 hours to go 88 miles but we sure had fun along the way.
Eric found a place called Rifle Falls State Park that he thought we should detour to and explore. We pulled into this little place in the middle of nowhere and paid our $1.75 each and found a cool little spot to have a picnic lunch. Our traveling restaurant seems to be finding some beautiful spots to pop-up at.
After lunch we walked a short distance to the falls. They were super cool and surrounded by incredible scenery. The other aspect to this park is that it is full of caves. Some reach back as far as 90 feet. Unfortunately we did not know about the caves until we arrived so we did not have any flashlights with us. We were only able to go in to each cave a few feet before it would get to dark to see.
We spent a couple hours exploring and goofing off and enjoying each others company. We watched people and even witnessed a redneck wedding.
After thoroughly enjoying all the park had to offer we set off on the back roads to Glenwood Springs. We had a good time viewing the variety of homes and farms and other crazy hillbilly homesteads as we drove through the rolling hills towards our destination.
We checked into our hotel and found a nearby park along the river to grill dinner. Tonight we had tilapia, shrimp, veggies and salad and decided we are the best restaurant in Colorado. While dinner was on the grill we played a very competitive game of ladder golf. We enjoyed the sunset and watched a train roll through the valley. We are off to bed early tonight so we can get up early tomorrow and hike to Hanging Lake.
