Deb's Adventures
This morning we got a 7am start and headed a few exits East on I70 to Hanging Lake. This is one of my favorite spots. It is a 1.2 mile hike straight up the side of a mountain. It is a steep but beautiful trail. We decided to get there early to beat the crowds and the heat. I was a little surprised at how many people had the same idea. It was good that we did get an early start because by the time we were done there was a huge line of cars waiting to get in.
We hiked up and up and up and stopped a lot to take photos which was really an excuse to catch our breath. We all did really good and were feeling pretty fit and spent a lot of time encouraging others to complete the hike.
We made it to the top and as always Hanging Lake and Spouting Rock were awesome. The water is so clear and the underwater formations almost take on an essence of a coral garden. We met a fun couple that were on their Honeymoon and taking pictures everywhere in a horse and unicorn mask. Lesley got a picture with them.
After enjoying the sights we made our way back down and back to the hotel. We freshened up and headed into the downtown area of Glenwood Springs. We spent the afternoon perusing the shops and we found a great Asian restaurant to have dinner at later.
After such an early morning we decided we all needed a Nana-nap before dinner. We spent a couple of quiet hours in our rooms which was really nice. I feel like we have been on the go since we left home. Dinner turned out to be fabulous. We were all happy to not cook or do dishes. Ray bought us all dinner which was really generous. Thanks for dinner and another lovely day.
PS. Lesley and Ray wanted me to tell you all Hello and that they are a little disappointed in the lake of participation. Every day they ask "How many comments did we get?" and I have to tell them zero.
