We landed in L.A. to lovely hot weather:-) Our hostel was just off Hollywood Boulevard so we walked straight out of the metro station and onto the Walk of Fame before we'd even had chance to put our bags down. We got to the hostel and enjoyed the BBQ they had on for that evening.
The next day we we got the most important thing ticked off the list first....the Hollywood sign! We caught a bus and then walked up sereral steep streets to reach the sign. Amazingly it looked just as we thought it would:-) In the afternoon we caught the metro to a diner called Phillipes. Phillipes has been on Man vs. Food and is famous for its french dipped sandwiches. We ordered a beef sandwich each, both were dipped in the famous french jus and were served with homemade mustard sauce....very delicious (would highly recommend to anyone who ventures to L.A.).
We spent our second day on a tour to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, both were very impressive. We walked up the wide streets of Beverly hills and peeked through the gates to the houses of famous past and present stars. The shops on Rodeo Drive all sparkled in the midday sun and expensive brand names hung above every one. The road itself was very clean and lined with palm trees, we window shopped before returning to the hostel.
Before leaving L.A. we walked the full length of the walk of fame and visited the Chinese theatre where the handprints and signatures are on the walkway outside. We also went on a tour of the Warner Brothers studios where we got to see the set of the Big Bang Theory and got to walk around the Central Perk set....a definate highlight! And to finish off we visited the 500 Days of Summer lookout :-).
After a busy few days in L.A. we headed south on a greyhound bus to San Diego.
