From the 1st-10th of December we made our way up the southern east coast of America, stopping at Miami, Orlando and Savannah.
The weather in Miami was gorgeous and really warm....not what we're used to for early December. We walked along Ocean Drive and the beach, then around to the marina enjoying the sun and the views. We had one big night out where we were taken on a party bus to a nearby club, which was massive and built on the beach. The outside seating on the sand was fantastic.
When we got to Orlando we were happy to find that the weather was just as good as Miami. We had booked into a motel with a swimming pool and so spent a lot of our time at the pool bar or in the pool. On our first day we made the effort to walk to the main street where all the theme parks are. However, as we were not planning to actually go in the theme parks (due to lack of funding) we found that there wasn't much else to do. We also found it very difficult to get around Orlando. We caught a tram up to a large shopping centre from which we could see our motel over the road. However, there was no way over the busy main road and so had to tram and walk back, taking well over an hour! As we felt our time was better spent at the motel pool we had our last day at the pool bar watching the Home Alone films:-)
We arrived in Savannah just as it was going dark but immediately decided that we liked the place and it was still quite mild:-). Our motel was located just outside the town and so we had to catch a bus to get there. The next day we got the bus back into the centre and spent the whole day walking around the little cobbled streets and looking in the shops. One shop was completely geared up to selling just christmas stuff....it was amazing and we wanted to buy everything in there. Unfortunately most things were either too fragile or too big. Made us feel very christmassy though:-). After spending a couple of days in Savannah we packed up and prepared for our overnight 12 hour train ride to Washington DC.
