After leaving Burra we travelled via Kapunda where we spent some time looking at the town. Kapunda was a copper mining town before Burra but in the end not as big a mine. It was also the home of Sir Sydney Kidman ( of cattle station fame ) for some time. The town and interpretive centre were great. Of course we couldn't leave without a look at the copper mine. The area was no where near as well preserve as in Burra but still worth the look. The "NO FOSSICKING" sign didn't deter the rock hound and a couple of pieces ended up in the top box. While trying to prise a ore sample free I slipped with my pocket knife and cut my finger ( only small but messy ). Then as if a punishment for fossicking, while trying to juggle knife, bloody finger , rock samples and camera case we got dust and grit into the lens mechanism of the camera. Not a good thing to do.
Still managed to get a photo of the Big Miner for my "Big Collection".
The aim of the day was to stay off the main highways as were went to Victor Harbor They don't spell it harbour ) so we wound our way through the Adelaide Hills, up and down hills, twisting and turning through great motorcycle roads.
Victor Harbor is a pretty town and the caravan park is by the beach. Life is really tough when you have camp kitchens like the one here. See the photo. As the pool is partially heated we have had a swim in it when not using the camp kitchen in the background.
First day after arrival is always a kick back day while we get the feel of the place and work out what were want to do there. High priority is getting a service done on Trish's bike because it is a bit overdue. Luckily there is a Moto Guzzi dealer at Strathalbyn just a short ride away and they were very helpful in getting a booking for us before Easter.
PS. After lots of turning the camera on and off and zooming in and out with a bit of finger power to breathe life back into it, the camera seems to have recovered, touch wood!
