So it's the World Cup, and as much as I planned my trip well! GodDamn I forgot about the World Cup...Dumb Arse. All the games either start at midnight, 2am, or 4am! Good Choice hey. However since the Aussies are in it, there is a lot of hype over here too, with screens up to watch the Socceroos in action. Socceroos! I mean come on...shocking name. So the first England Match came about. The house all went out to a bar in town called the Shark bar - really huge place that was showing the game. My god what a crap match that was. Should have stayed in bed! Luckily it was a 12am kick off, so we were still drinking at that time, with the great 24hr drinking laws here, its very good for the footy fans. At least we won though right? The second England game I went to bed and got up for the 2am kick off watching it downstairs with the lads in the house, Fuzz and Matt. Another unconvincing England performance, but worth getting up for that's for certain! Let's hope and pray we do better against Sweden shall we, cos I am a little worried about Ecuador in the next round! Think Germany may be easier. That little guy from Spurs looked pretty good when he came on, Lennon I think his name was. Apart from the England games, I have seen (among others) Mexico beat the crap out of someone, Argentina destroy Serbia, Ghana beat the Czech's, Spain beat the Ukraine and the Aussie games (obviously). So I am trying to keep up with it and a full time job as well (highlights are a great thing!). The next round, I will watch all the games though, as they are repeated in the daytime after work. Hopefully Australia will get a draw out of Croatia and go through, cos the atmosphere here is really good at the moment. Hope your all enjoying it at home, can you believe I miss sitting in the Weavers, with Matt, Tim, Danny, Paul, Mike and the lads watching the World Cup. I remember back in the days where we all went round Blandy's house.... Remember that? A couple of things left to say are Come on You Whites! And lets all pray that the Italians get knocked out! Just for Sharkey...so come on you Czech's...heehee (miss ya!) Somebody please tell Sven to get Crouch out of the team. Yes he scored, but come on, how many should he have scored...I want to see Wayne Bridge back and Lennon on the wing! P.S. Mum it doesn't last forever, just hold on!
