Cairns was a lot of fun, but money was running incredibly low, and Sam - my agent! (yes people I have an Agent who gets me work) from Stevenage, gave me a call and let me know she had work back in Sydney. Now we were tempted to stay and work in a hostel for a while, but the difference between $22 an Hr and $14 is well worth the trip back to Sydney.
With a few phone calls, the flights were sorted, the fridge was booked, and I had work for the following day!
We obviously said goodbye to Cairns in Style, with an emotional fairwell to Luke Snr, who is heading back to England and then coming back here for New Year, Luke and Shawn were there til the end as always, Donna who is travelling the West Coast after, and our little German stalker Julie. Not sure if I wrote this but we kept bumping into Julie up the coast, a little shy German girl we thought! Were we ever wrong, this girl was a party animal, and hilarious. In Airlie she taught me how to dance on her balcony while it was raining, a sereal experience! Tasha also made a reappearance, and we I am going to stay with her on my route back.
I got home one night after Mr Joworski, and found a full sunlounger in our room with Jules asleep on it. Now our room was just big enough to take this lounger, and I had no idea why we had it or how he got it, but it was funny as!
Cairns well, I loved it, the lagoon is gorgeous night and day, the night life is always busy, it has so many lovely restaurants and cafes. Not the smallest of places but definately has enough to offer any traveller, especially the reef, or a romantic walk by the ocean, via the lit up lagoon.
So Virgin Blue back to Sydney arriving at 11pm, Julian got accousted in the airport by a stalker airhostess who wouldnt let him take the football on board! She was seriously weird!
Arrival back in Sydney and taxi back to 43 Pitt Street, our East Coast adventure was over. But as I opened the door, I suddenly realised how much I missed this place, and it inhabitants (I am not talking about the spiders and cockroaches) more the Lizas, Lorans, Katies, Jens of this world! It was like returning to a loving family!
It was surreal returning but a very warm, homely feeling has taken over ever since. No-one has left since Jules and I, however we do have a new addition, yes after being in a mood all around Vietnam, Kimberley Rhodes decided to move in (my friend from the Vietnam tour).
Now I work at the National Breat Cancer Foundation Charity in town ever since I returned, and love the feeling that I am actually doing something worthwhile for a change, and the girls I work with are brilliant. We have lit the Opera House and some of the City Pink recently which spawned some amazing pictures.
So was that the end of the East Coast? Was it ever, who decided to crash into Sydney with a bang, a couple of days later? Yes you guessed it Shawn and Luke made an appearence at Pitt Street, with a wild night closely followed by Amy and Jess, The Oz Expereince Hits Sydney - as I refered to it as.
I will say this Luke and Shawn have become like brothers to me, Lukes outlandish positive frame of mind, had a real effect on me, detailed in the final thought. And Shawns attitude is fantastic, again some people who we will always be in touch with. You made it what it was boys! Enjoy University and I'll see you in March.
So the East Coast was over, and to be honest it was really nice to return and settle again for a while before the next big adventure..which will be in November to Melbourne, Adelaide, Ayres Rock, Darwin and Perth.
Betts's (instead of Springers) final thought of the Day -
You can get bogged down with everything life throws at you, even when your on Holiday! But remember you are on Holiday and as Robin Williams said, to live will be a great adventure!
How indeph was that? Shame the quotes from Hook - I'm going to get another beer!
