My Trip
Dorms are great for meeting people that's for certain! However if you ever need sleep, you're slightly screwed. That's why I have moved into a house. Yes it is true I have a house in the Surrey hills! How exciting is that? It was very much required after also getting a job. And again yes I have followed my father's footsteps and am working in a bank! NAB the National Bank of Australia. It's just a temping job where I do administration work, and that's what I need right now, no stress and no getting up at 5am.
I walk everyday to work, it's about 45 minutes but I love it. Walking right through the Sydney CBD, it really is an intoxicating cityscape, and NAB is very close to Circular Quay - a great place for lunch by the bay, while looking at the Opera House. My hours are flexi, but it's a 9.30am start and leave whenever I need to, and for $20 an hour, it's all I need! No stress and No Hassle
Anyway my house, address 43 Pitt Street, Sydney! It's a shared house with 13 people, although there were only 10 when we moved in! Sounds like a lot I know but really its not that bad...everyone is really friendly, and there are huge living spaces and dining/kitchen areas. Yeah I cooked Spaghetti one of my first nights...I miss my Mums Spaghetti (send me some! Actually bad idea!).
Liza, Fin and I decided it would be a good idea to get somewhere together as we get along so well, and it's easier to look for 3 people instead of alone. So that's whom I live with.
The house is made up Becky and Matt - Couple
Eva and Niall - Couple
Karen, Claire, Nat, Loran, Fuzz.
Everyone bar Loran, Eva and Niall are Semi-English Loran is Canadian and the others are Irish.
It was a good move apart from the fact that Australian Houses don't all have heating, you can understand why, but come on.... It gets pretty cold at night here at present! So I nicknamed the house, the fridge for good measure. I am also saving money as I can now cook for myself, watch DVD's/programs...catching up with Lost and The OC, and get some sleep for the next leg of my tour.
We did have a welcoming Party where I got to know everyone bar the Irish, and they all seem really nice. Nat is quality, a Wigan girl who just makes me laugh and laugh. Karen is like a little ray of sunshine, Becky and Matt are like another Matt and Clare (always a good thing), Fuzz is the house comedian and Claire is simply great fun.
Reminds me of being back at University...just without the wonders of Josh and Mark.
So that's the life of the International Jetsetter, I am all sorted with Job, House and Friends...It's a simple waiting and saving game now.... Work the week, play the weekends. Over and Out
