On the way through from Picton it was raining hard so we bypassed Blenheim. We encountered some sheep being moved by road so we were stuck amongst them for a few minutes whilst the farmers in landrovers moved them along. There were seals to view along the road so we had to stop and have a look and boy do they smell of fish! We left Waitomo for Wanganui with a stopover in Raeti - we watched the fuel gauge for the last 30km of the trip as fuel was low and no petrol site was to be found, luckily one appeared before we ran out but it was close, one more big hill and we would have been b*****ed. Saw a Kiwi bird at the Otorohanga park and they were alot bigger than we thought they would be - they are about the size of our dog Chip and run in a really funny fashion. Yippee free kayaks at the camp site! Darren got in okay as I was holding his kayak but as soon as I tried to get on mine in the water I went (Darren was no help as he was too busy laughing his head off as I resurfaced with sand in me knickers).
