Day 41 Friday 18th
Olivia-
Warm start to to the day about 28 degrees we head to Emma Gorge, 1.6 kilometres walking along the river bed is really fun. Sometimes we had to climb up big rocks on our hands and feet. We get to the first swimming hole, it is very refreshing (FREEZING). Then we go up to the actual Emma Gorge that was cold but there was a small spring sort of thing that was so hot :) We also saw a snake swimming, it was tiny, but Mum made us get out of the water. There was a really pretty water fall it was so cool. There were walls about a kilometre high. Then we headed back have a couple more swims at the turquoise pool and try to catch fish. Dad made a fish trap out of his hat! We arrive back at the resort to have another swim (this time it is a pool) 45 degrees SOOO HOT! Mum was so hot she looked like a strawberry. We had some lunch, get in the car and head to Kunnanurra.

ND-
Emma Gorge is part of the Cockburn Ranges. It is one of the Kimberleys most well known and spectacular gorges, characterised by massive scree slopes and cliff faces reaching 120meters on either side of the trail. Much of the trail consists of large boulders and rocky terrain which we all clambered over on all fours, accident prone Matilda had a few crashes and ended up with one wet shoe. Well worth the effort as both the Turquoise Pool and Emma Gorge pool and falls were stunning. Water temps vary in places between 15-25 degrees, where warm water seeps through the cracks at the base of the cliff.
We took a relatively long time to make our way back to the resort as Grace and I had both rolled our ankles, nothing too serious, it was incredibly warm and eventually we emerged from the end of the track to a group who said "You haven't just come from the Gorge have you? It's 40 degrees!"
We all absolutely loved our El Questro experience short but very sweet! And I'm quietly pleased we were "forced" to stay at Emma Gorge.
We arrived back at Kimberlyland CP just on dark, having popped into town to grab supplies for tea and purchase 'TANK!' The poor old engle fridge is struggling to keep up in the heat and no one is drinking enough. So 'TANK' JD's new best mate, will double as an iced water supply and Eski for really cold beer!
Steve Case was playing again down on the lake stage, this time some original songs. He was rather amusing.
One of the choruses of his original country ballad...
"You were older, wiser, a little grey and a little wider. But you were still lovely to me!".
He'd been circumnavigating Australia and singing to fund his trip. Another of his songs very aptly named "Living the dream!" And it really is!
He finished off with "On the road again" again!
We took the torches down to the rivers edge and did some croc spotting before bed.
