Day 39 Wednesday 16 August
ND-
Wow, wow, wow!
Can this trip get any better!!!!!
El Questro! Seriously Excited!
.
Left Kunanurra with a few supplies and some chemicals to sort out some very stinky grey water!
.
A quick drive into El Questro. Our first, brief and last Gibb River Road experience. A couple of not so deep river crossings added a bit of excitement on the approach to Emma Gorge!
.
As we really wanted to see El Questro but the van can only safely get as far as Emma Gorge we have booked in to tented cabins for two nights.
.
They are fabulous!!!
The cabins are spacious ensuited tent shaped canvas and mesh. Zippered windows with a roof fan.
.
We are positioned at the back of the grounds, how did they know, overlooking a little creek bed with a small trickling of water! Absolute bliss.
.
The girls are excited to be sharing a tent together. So are JD and I, but I wonder how long it will last before someone gets moved!?
.
We had a quick lunch and went to find out about our options of getting further into El Questro homestead and Station by 4WD
Half day tour booked for tomorrow!
.
We ended up pool side for a very relaxing afternoon. The kids found frogs and fish to amuse themselves for an hour or so and JD has finally relaxed enough to enjoy a little down time and managed a 20minute kip by the pool. I tried a bit of sun bathing but I've never been very good at it, I get bored and uncomfortable, so I spent a lot more time in the pool than I normally would.
.
Early dinner at Emmas restaurant, with Rebecca our delightful waitress, then back to the tents for a very civilised games of Trivial pursuit. Grace very happy with her self cause she won and didn't cheat once!
.
The kids settled into their tent with very little protest. It only took 39 days but the kids all finally had a day where they were perfectly behaved! Maybe they've finally worked out how incredibly lucky we all are! We went to sleep listening to the sound of silence with the occasional twitter of birds and a trickle of the stream.
.
Great day! Looking forward to tomorrow!

Pete John Miedecke and Andrew, his brother, and I flew into Emma Gorge on the way to the V8 Supercars in Darwin. We also loved the tents etc.
