Day 6 – Namib Naukluft NP - Swakopmund (380 KM)
Another early start, we had breakfast at 6 AM and then left just before 7. We had our first stop at a place called Solitaire, where there was a bakery, which was famous for their apple pie (Massive portion) so had to try this because it had been at least half an hour since breakfast.
Our 2nd stop of the day was a guided tour again by 4X4 into the dessert where we met a local expert who told us a lot about the dessert ecosystem and how the Bushmen survived in these conditions.
He told us a Bushman was able to eat 10KG of meat in a day and his stomach was specially developed for it ...... This was no real surprise us as we had a German in our party called Heinrich who eats 3 meals at every sitting .....effectively 9 meals a day and has a specially modified stomach that Annette calls "volleyball belly"
We Had three more stops on our way to Swakopmund, one at the Tropic of Capricorn, one at the moon landscape and another one at Walvis Bay, where we saw lots of flamingos in the ocean.
Had a meal out tonight and met the 4 new people who were joining us ...... Guess what, they were all German.
Ended up there was a bar and a night club next door – so partied out till late.
