Day 2 - Namibia Bound ................We now roused at 5:30 am showers, breakfast and briefing then on the road for 7:00am. As we headed through the Northern Cape the terrain became very different from the lush Green the 9 "efes" had experienced on the Garden Route and the Western Cape. Most of the Germans cannot speak English ...... I will introduce some of them as we go ...... Today it will be Klaus who is about 6 ft 3 ins and refused to accept the seat rotation discipline - he sits firmly at the front steadfastly refusing to move and scanning the desert like a tank commander ..... The enemy will not surprise us on Klaus's watch.
The ground became very brown and the terrain became more mountainous, the temperature kept rising into the 40's withfourteen of us in a truck for 550 Kms We finally crossed the Namibian the border and shortly afterwards arrived at our accommodation and the place was idylic ..... We were housed in thatched Cabanas set on a ridge overlooking the Orange river ...... One cabana did not have electricity working, you guessed it ~ it was ours. They sent a man with one working arm to repair it ..... Two hours drinking beer with a head torch before we finally got light.

Heather Glad to see another blog entry, great to see the pictures and enjoying the storyline - looking forward to meeting the rest of the team! My day starts pretty similar - up at 6.30am, showers, breakfast and as I head to work the terrain becomes very different from the dust and cement in the house to the noise of the Covpress factory ....... x
