After our long day yesterday we really struggled to wake up this morning and only just made breakfast. They have a lot of sweet things for brekky here so we will bring the Vegemite tomorrow to go on the beautiful fresh bread.
We asked the reception about a laundromat and they offered to send it out for us. For €12 we got it washed and dried and we didn't have to waste a few hours watching the machines go round. It was nice leaving it up to someone else and getting on with the day. Because we didn't do any in s***sville (sorry Frankfurt but it's your own fault) we put in all our thermals. As we stepped out the door we knew we would be freezing for the day.
It was rainy and cold so we had decided to jump on a sightseeing bus. They are in a lot of cities and provide guided commentary of the sights along the route. It also gives you the ability to hop on and off at certain spots. We had planned to do these in nearly every city and yet here we are on our first. Got sidetracked along the way I guess. It was crowded on the bus but we managed to get a seat up the top which ended up not being so great. As the top section only has a clear canvas cover we spent the day shivering, and due to the rain we were not able to take any decent photos. We did however see a lot of sights of the city and it gave us a good idea of the layout.
We did a whole circuit and then went a small way again and hopped off at Taksim Square. We have been looking for a new memory card for the camera and this seemed like a good place to search. We first headed into McDonalds to warm up before braving the wind and rain. Then we wandered around unhappily for a while but had no luck with a card. We ran out of time and headed back to get on the last bus. It was a jackpot! Hardly anyone on the bus so we could sit downstairs with the heater. Can't tell you how much more enjoyable that made the experience.
We finished off at the last drop point and headed home. Warm showers and comfortable in bed we really felt warm for the first time today.
Ps. The picture is of Bosphorus bridge, which connects Europe and Asia.
